Dear Friends and members of the Portsmouth Family...
I have spent the past 14 years serving on various boards, commissions and committees in the city of Portsmouth. I am an active member of my Church and Community.
My years of service have reaffirmed my belief and desire for a bright future for our city. Portsmouth is rich with diversity. Our citizens come from different races, cultures, religions and backgrounds. We must capitalize on our diversity and use it as a unifying force for the future growth and development of our City.
We must take care of people who take care of us. Pay our Public Safety Professionals, Teachers and Public Servants a living wage and reinvest in our neighborhoods.
It is imperative that our children grow up in a caring and nurturing environment. We must provide them the opportunity to grow up in a city that provides them with a sense of pride and encourages them to become well rounded, caring productive citizens who will choose to be a part of future success of Portsmouth.
As our election draws near, it my hope that you will see that my, Military, Civic and Church leadership have prepared me for the position I seek.
Dr. Cornel West said: “You can’t lead our people if you don’t love our people. You can’t save our people if you won’t serve our people.” I love Portsmouth and stand ready, able, and willing to serve.
It is my solemn promise that I will do all in my power to see that we reach our full potential and capitalize on the unlimited possibilities for the future. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Paige D. Cherry
